I left the study of neuroscience at the University of Delaware in 1974 and studied at the Institute for Rational Emotive Therapy in New York City and was trained by Dr. Albert Ellis, PhD. I have learned what is most effective in helping people. I love working with children, adolescents, and adults using cognitive behavioral therapy to help people live more satisfying lives. Over the past 49 years I have worked in a private practice to provide assessment, evidence based treatment, and ongoing assessment to refine treatment focus for success.
I believe it is very important to use objective assessments to help patients and families with a full range of problems using evidence-based practices that include pre and post testing. In the first four sessions, I complete a thorough assessment, define the problem with my patient and family, and make a treatment plan with the patient for the following three months. I reassess regularly to make sure we are making progress.
I currently am providing telehealth services via Zoom using play, art, and humor to fully engage children, adolescents. and adults in therapy. I work closely with schools with children who need accommodations. I have substantial experience working with employers to preserve effective relationships. My 49 years of successful experience allows me to quickly offer methods that help effectively. I continually learn better ways to be helpful.
